Who I Am
I’m Anthony.
Bronx raised. Gen X certified. Fluent in sarcasm and side-eye.
Born in 1971, raised by a single mom and whatever was playing on the VCR.
I grew up before brunch culture, before safe subway platforms, before the city got a facelift.
Public school cynicism. Corner store survival.
Saturday morning cartoons. Mixtapes. Horror marathons at 3 a.m.
Pop culture didn’t just shape me. It shielded me.
We didn’t have therapy. We had Channel 11 and couch cushions full of broken remotes and loose Now and Laters.
I’ve spent my life building, breaking, and rebooting
Creatively. Emotionally. Digitally.
I’ve worked inside the machine and yelled from the outside.
Now I write. I remember. I rant. I make weird mashups of Fallout and Ghostbusters just to stay sane.
What Genex Geek Is
This isn’t just nostalgia.
This is a kind of recovery.
It’s for the ones who remember blowing into cartridges.
For the kids who saved up couch-cushion money to buy candy under the glare of a bodega cat.
For the ones who still feel a pit in their stomach when a photo disappears from their phone.
Genex Geek is the space I wish I had as a kid.
It’s part time capsule, part venting booth, part sacred mixtape.
Some of the stories are funny.
Some are pissed off.
Some are cracked and aching.
But every one of them is true.
What I Believe
I believe creativity is oxygen.
I believe the mall food court was church.
I believe we were the last generation to feel forgotten and free at the same time.
I believe clubbing was therapy, horror was scripture, and storytelling is survival.
I believe remembering is a radical act.
Stick around.
Read something.
Share your own story if you want.
The world might be all reboots now
but this blog?
This is original format.
Want a good place to start? Here’s a mix of cultural wounds, cartoon fruit, and personal ghosts.
